Congratulations to our September Cadets of the Month, LET 1 C/ Maddison VanHoose and LET 2 C/ Laura Martinez!
This Saturday, your Battalion Staff got together to make the year's first Battalion Update - all about our next big event, Battalion Picnic! Check it out and get excited! Last Friday night, cadets volunteered to guard the football stadium fences during the varsity game. We also presented the colors as always, and had cadets working hard for chain-and-down! The next morning, cadets showed up once again to beautify the bleachers & field. Great job, Matadors!
This week, cadets took diagnostic tests for the Cadet Challenge, with exercises including the shuttle run, curl-up, V-sit reach, flex arm hang/pull-up, and the half-mile. Let's get fit, Battalion! This Friday, cadets worked at the first home football game as Gate Guard and Chain-and-down volunteers. The next morning, cadets tidied up the bleachers and field. Way to go, Matadors! The past two weeks have been full of learning the foundations of JROTC - acronyms, values, ranks, military courtesy, saluting, chain of command, and stationary movements. As always, LET 2s and above taught the stations, while LET 1s traveled through the "Round Robin" learning all about each Military Stakes subject. These subjects are crucial to understand for the promotion tests and inspections, so keep studying, cadets!!! Happy New Year to all the cadets and their parents! This 2016 year will be the best year JROTC at Mount Miguel will ever have. There is a lot in store for the cadets this year, so be ready to be challenged both mentally and physically. Here are so of the highlights so far this year......

He gave the students knowledge of life in the military and careers related to the military. He announced scholarship opportunities that each student had a chance to apply. He encouraged our program and motivated us to strive for success. Congratulations to Mount Miguel's Drill Teams at the Orange Glenn Competition. It was a great and intense performance. The unarmed drill team received 4th overall, 3rd place exhibition, and 5th place for foreman. Also congratulations to the Armed drill team for receiving 5th place for foreman, The drill teams' bearing was truly tested on Saturday, April 25th, at the Golden Bear West Coast Nationals Drill Meet. Mount Miguel competed against over 60 schools, including schools from Arizona, Nevada, Taipei, and even as far as Guam. Faced with powerful winds and pouring rain, the drill teams rose above the conditions and put on a truly amazing performance at the drill meet.
The drill teams placed in the following sections:
