A LEADERSHIP PROGRAM LIKE NO OTHER:
Mount Miguel High School Army JROTC is a leadership education program aimed at helping high school students become leaders. Students practice teamwork, discipline, and gain real skills, including resume building and public speaking, that will help them navigate through life. Many of the top students at Mount Miguel are leaders in Army JROTC. In addition, physical training done during the first two years of JROTC satisfies the Physical Education requirement at Mount Miguel High School. It is important to note that JROTC is NOT a military recruitment program. While we can aid cadets in the process if they wish, the main focus of the program is developing leadership. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS: The program is instructed by Senior Army Instructor Lieutenant Colonel Linh Scott and Army Instructors First Sergeant Brian Bennett and First Sergeant James Logan. Lieutenant Colonel Scott is in charge of instructing LET 3's and 4's (cadets in their 3rd and 4th year of JROTC), while First Sergeant Bennett is in charge of instructing LET 2's and First Sergeant Logan is in charge of instructing LET 1's. EXTRACURRICULAR PROGRAMS AND VOLUNTEER EVENTS: MMHS JROTC is not confined to the classroom. There are before and after school programs including Green Team and Drill Team, as well as volunteer events such as the Creek to Bay clean up, which partakes on the schools campus. JROTC focuses on service learning and provides many opportunities to obtain community service hours. |
